Things just keep getting worse for Chad Johnson. After Johnson’s domestic violence arrest and subsequent cut from the Miami Dolphins, VH1 has canceled his reality show.
"Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series Ev and Ocho from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it," the network said in a statement.
Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, was supposed to star on ‘Ev and Ocho’ with his wife of 1 month, Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada. The premiere of ‘Ev and Ocho’ was set for September 3.
Neither Johnson nor Lozada has commented. Johnson was arrested Saturday afternoon for misdemeanor domestic battery after Lozada accused him of head butting her during a heated argument about a receipt for condoms she found in their car.
“She alleges he leaned over and head-butted her. He says she leaned towards him and that they butted heads. Needless to say she has a good laceration on her forehead,” said Capt. Dale Engle.
Lozada was treated at Westside Regional Hospital for a 3-inch cut on her forehead. Johnson was taken to Broward County jail where he was held overnight. He was released Sunday afternoon after posting $2,500 bond. Johnson’s attorney, Adam Swickle, confirmed a judge also issued a no contact order that prevents Johnson from having any communication with Lozada.
The Dolphins cut Johnson about 24 hours after his arrest. Just hours before Johnson was sacked, Dolphins coach Joe Philbin promised to “deal with” the 34-year-old wide receiver’s arrest. "We're not going to waste time. ... We're all in this thing together. Everybody that sets foot in this building, we're all held to a high standard,” Philbin said.
Johnson signed with the Dolphins two months ago following his release from the New England Patriots.
