Robert Pattinson Avoids Kristen Stewart Questions On The Daily Show

Robert Pattinson avoided revealing anything about the status of his relationship with Kristen Stewart on The Daily Show Monday night. The interview was the actor’s first since news of Stewart’s brief fling with married director Rupert Sanders broke last month. Daily Show host Jon Stewart did his best to get Pattinson to talk by breaking out Ben & Jerry's ice cream and joking that they were “just a couple of gals talking.”

"Listen, the last time I had a bad breakup, Ben and Jerry got me through some of the tougher times," Stewart said. "So, I thought you and I could bond over this and talk about, 'Boy, you are better off. Kick her to the curb! Whatever!"

Pattinson steered the conversation towards the fact that he should have a publicist to help deal with “awkward” interviews. “I'm going to sound like an idiot, but my biggest problem in my life is I'm cheap, and I didn't hire a publicist," he revealed. "And in every awkward interview, normally, actors get these things scripted. I'm going to hire a publicist."

When Stewart said breakups sometimes feel “like the world is ending,” Pattinson replied, “It is.”

“Here is my wish for you: That you get to handle your business in private, in your personal life, and I wish you all the best,” Stewart added.

Pattinson, 26, has kept a low profile since Stewart admitted to cheating on him with Sanders, the director of her latest film Snow White and the Huntsman. He reportedly spent the last several weeks at the Ojai, California estate of his Water for Elephants co-star Reese Witherspoon.

For her part, Stewart moved out of the Los Angeles home she shared with Pattinson late last month. The 22-year-old also publicly apologized to Pattinson, saying her “momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob.”

Meanwhile, Summit Entertainment insists the upcoming promotional tour for Twilight: Breaking Dawn 2 will not be affected by Stewart and Pattinson’s split. "While it is studio policy not to comment on the personal lives of actors, Summit is moving full steam ahead and looking forward to this November's opening of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2. We are confident that the film delivers amazing entertainment for our passionate fans and general audiences alike,” Summit marketing president Nancy Kirkpatrick said in a statement earlier this month.

Pattinson and Stewart began dating after meeting on the set of the first Twilight film in 2008.
