It looks like Robert Pattinson will not be speaking about his split from Kristen Stewart anytime soon. Much like he did in his appearance on The Daily Show Monday night, the actor politely avoided answering any questions about his personal life during an interview on Good Morning America.
"I got to get the elephant in the room out of the way. Everybody just wants to know, how are you doing? What do you want your fans to know about what's going on?" co-host George Stephanopoulos asked.
"I mean, you know, they seem pretty excited about kind of whatever. I'd like my fans to know that Cinnamon Toast Crunch only has 130 calories a bowl, for instance," Pattinson joked, referring to a box of his favorite cereal Stephanopoulos had presented at the start of the interview.
Pattinson, 26, did address fans’ interest in his personal life. "It's a different thing. You get into it to do movies. I've never been interested in trying to sell my personal life and that's really the only reason people bring it up," Pattinson said. "I think if you get used to it I think you start going crazy. It's like being on the craziest theme park ride. It's totally exciting, but eventually, at some point you have to have a break.”
“People don't find the personal lives of people with much more power than any celebrity as interesting. If you put the personal lives of people who controlled billions of dollars on front page of every paper, I think the world would be a better place,” he added.
The 26-year-old split from Stewart last month after the actress admitted to a brief fling with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. He kept a low profile following Stewart’s confession, and only emerged this week to promote his latest film ‘Cosmopolis.’
While discussing the film on GMA, Pattinson said he relates to his character, a 28-year-old multibillionaire named Eric Packer. “I’ve always found this connection with the idea of finding it difficult to live in the present,” he said. “I always felt I was living in the future and as soon as I was reading that, that’s a lot of what Eric Packer’s problem is, he feels like he’s living in the future. And he’s not being able to totally feel. There’s a lot of similarities to an actor’s life. It’s strange.”
