BioSante Pharmaceuticals Inc. said last Monday that its product candidate BioVant improved the effectiveness of avian and swine flu vaccines in preclinical studies on animals.
The company improved the animals' immune response to the diseases, adjuvant, or a substance that is added to vaccines and makes them more effective by creating a greater immune system response. May make lower-dose vaccines more convenient, and the drug worked best when administered in a nasal spray.
