An insider has shed light on what may have led Tony Scott to commit suicide. The source tells ABC News Scott, the younger brother of director Ridley Scott, was battling inoperable brain cancer. No other details on his condition were available. The Scott family has not commented on the reports.
Scott, 68, jumped to his death from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles Harbor around 12:35 p.m. on Sunday. A Los Angeles Port Police dive team recovered his body. The director/producer, whose film credits include Top Gun, True Romance, Days of Thunder and Crimson Tide, left his black Toyota Prius parked on the bridge with contact information inside. Investigators later recovered a suicide note from his office. Details on the contents of the note have not been disclosed.
In addition to his brother, Scott is survived by his third wife, actress and model Donna Wilson, and their twin sons.
