LaDainian Tomlinson Racks Up 199 Yards on the Ground in Chargers 20-9 Victory Over the Chiefs.

NFL Week 15 Scores: San Diego 20 Kansas City 9

San Diego (12-2) won their eighth game in a row and LaDainian Tomlinson set a new NFL single-season scoring record as the Chargers beat the Kansas City Chiefs (7-7) 20-9.

Tomlinson’s 15-yard touchdown run in the first quarter broke the NFL’s 46-year-old single season scoring record held by Paul Hornung. The record breaking touchdown gave the Chargers running back 180 points, eclipsing the 176 points totaled by the Green Bay Packers halfback/kicker in 1960.

The historic touchdown gave the Chargers a 7-0 lead.

Before the first half ended, Tomlinson busted out with his longest touchdown run of his career. His 85-yard touchdown run pushed the Chargers lead to 14-3. The score was Tomlinson’s 31st of the season.

The second half didn’t feature as much excitement as the first half as both teams were limited to a pair of field goals. The win for the Chargers

Tomlinson’s second touchdown also gave him eight straight games with two or more touchdowns, breaking the record he shared with Washington’s John Riggins. It was also the eighth straight game that Tomlinson surpassed 100 yards rushing; he ended up with 199 yards on the ground.

San Diego relied on the ground attack all night as Philip Rivers struggled with the passing game. Rivers was 8/23 passing for just 97 yards and two interceptions.

On the defensive end of the ball, the Chargers recorded six sacks and held the Chiefs running game to 90 yards. Larry Johnson accounted for 84 yards.
