Canadian Police: Dismembered Remains Are Those Of Missing Mom

Canadian police have identified dismembered human remains discovered in two waterways over the past week as those of 41-year-old single mom Hua Guang Liu. Liu, the former owner of a Scarborough spa, was reported missing on August 11, according to police Insp. George Koekkoek. She was last seen alive on August 10.

The investigation into the remains began last Wednesday after hikers at the Hewick Meadows Park in Mississauga discovered a severed foot in Credit River. Authorities searched the area and found a head and two hands on Thursday and Friday. Two people then found an arm, two calves and a thigh in West Highlands Creek in Toronto on Saturday and Sunday. DNA testing proved all of the parts belonged to Liu.

Authorities do not expect to find more victims. Koekkoek said police “have no reason to believe that this is anything other than an isolated case.” “We’re satisfied at this stage that there is no threat or danger to public safety. If we have information to the contrary, we’ll be the first to advise,” he added.
