Tony Scott’s Wife Denies Brain Cancer Report

Los Angeles Deputy Chief Coroner Ed Winter says Tony Scott’s wife has denied reports the director was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer before his shocking death over the weekend. On Monday, an insider told ABC News Scott’s alleged cancer diagnosis may have been the reason behind his suicide.

"I did talk to the family yesterday late afternoon, and according to his wife, he did not have brain cancer as reported, and (she) does not know who told ABC that information, which is absolutely false," says Winter.

Scott’s death is under investigation. The 68-year-old jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles Harbor around 12:35 p.m. on Sunday. He left a suicide note in his office and contact information in his vehicle parked on the bridge. Details on the contents of the suicide note have not been disclosed.

In addition to his wife Donna, Scott is survived by twin sons and his director brother Ridley Scott.

Scott’s film credits include Days of Thunder, Crimson Tide, Déjà Vu and Enemy of the State. His most recent work includes The Taking of Pelham 123 and Unstoppable.
