Avril Lavigne is ready to say ‘I do’ again. The singer has confirmed she is engaged to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger. Kroeger popped the question earlier this month with a 14-carat diamond ring.
The news comes as a surprise to fans since Lavigne, 27, and Kroeger, 37, have kept their 6 month relationship a secret until now. A source close to Lavigne tells People magazine the couple’s relationship “blossomed” after they began writing songs together for Lavigne’s upcoming album.
This will be Kroeger’s first marriage and Lavigne’s second. She split from Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley in 2009 after three years of marriage. Lavigne was then linked to reality star Brody Jenner.
