After weeks of speculation on who will play the hunky Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Lionsgate has announced Sam Claflin scored the role. Finnick is a District 4 tribute who teams up with Katniss and Peeta in the Quarter Quell. Jennifer Lawrence will return to play Katniss while Josh Hutcherson will reprise his role as Peeta. New cast members include Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer, Jena Malone, Lynn Cohen, and Meta Golding.
Claflin most recently starred opposite Kristen Stewart in Snow White and the Huntsman. He previously appeared in The Pillars of the Earth and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Claflin’s upcoming films include Overdrive and Belle.
Catching Fire is set to be released on November 22, 2013. Francis Lawrence will replace Gary Ross as director.
