Billionaire entrepreneur and playboy Elon Musk has finalized his divorce from British actress Talulah Riley, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Many people may not know who Elon Musk is, but they are likely to know of his various business ventures. Musk, 41, is originally from South Africa and immigrated to the U.S. to attend university. After college, he developed PayPal which he sold to E-Bay. Using the funds from PayPal he started both Tesla Motors and SpaceX, which recently sent a shuttle to the international space station.
Musk was described by the New York Times describes as Tony Stark without the Iron Man suit; he is worth roughly $2 billion and agreed to pay Riley $4.2 million to settle their brief marriage. She also gets to keep some of her fine jewelry including a Cartier and Gucci watches, and her Tesla Roadster.
Riley, 26, and Musk married in September of 2010 but separated in July of 2011. They were actually together for four years. But Riley won’t get all of the money at once; she got an initial payout of $1.4 million and will be awarded smaller amounts of the settlement over the span of nine years.
Musk divorced his first wife, Justine, a Canadian fantasy novelist, in 2008. They share custody of their five sons.
It appears as though Musk and Riley did not have a pre-nuptial agreement, but his divorce lawyers managed to settle the divorce without dipping to deeply into his pockets.
