Military Order of the Purple Heart Elects New National Senior Vice Commander

Springfield, Missouri, August 23, 2009 - Clayton Jones, a long time Missouri resident, has been elected as National Senior Vice Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, a national veteran service organization with more than 44,000 members.

 

National Senior Vice Commander Clayton Jones has served as a Chapter Commander, Commander of the Department of Missouri, Commander of Region II, and as National Junior Vice Commander.  He has also served as Chairman of the National Finance Committee.  Clayton is a native of Illinois, but lived the majority of his life in Oklahoma and Missouri.  Patriot Jones entered the U.S. Army in 1961.  He served proudly with the 1st Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam from 1965 thru 1967 where he received the Purple Heart as a result of shrapnel wounds.   After leaving the service, Jones was a Senior Manager with Greyhound Bus Corp. before retiring to establish and operate his own successful insurance agency in Nixa, Missouri. He recently retired after almost 20 years in business and now dedicates all of his efforts towards service to his fellow Veterans.  Patriot Jones and his wife Sharon live in Nixa, Missouri.

 

Jones’ agenda during his tenure as Senior Vice Commander is to support the Commander’s key goals and objectives, including focusing on programs that improve communications within the organization, ensuring that the organization continues to serve veterans and their families, and stressing the active involvement of local chapters and state departments in veteran support activities.
