Second Serial Killer Suspect Arrested by British Police

After arresting a 37-year-old man on Monday in connection with the murder of five prostitutes, British police arrested a second man earlier today.

Speaking at a news conference Chief Superintendent Stuart Gull of Suffolk police confirmed the arrest “A second man has now been arrested by detectives ..on suspicion of the murder of all five women.”

Media reports have indicated that the 48-year-old man arrested was Stephen Wright of Ipswich. Police have begun searching the man’s house and the garden he maintained. Detectives have also taken the man’s car for forensic testing.

The arrest of the second man has not freed the man originally arrested in the crime. Police have requested and been granted more time to question the suspect. Local news has identified the 37-year-old as supermarket employee Tom Stephens of Trimley St. Martin. His residence is about 12 miles from Ipswich.

Stephens has denied any involvement in the deaths of the women but has admitted to knowing each of the victims.

All five of the murdered women have been discovered around Ipswich, in the county of Suffolk in eastern England.

The first body was discovered on Dec. 2
