An additional 17 children suffered minor injuries and were also taken to the Titus Regional Medical Center.

According to statistics from the NHTSA in 2008, the last time the agency tracked the data, an average of 19 school children die each year in transportation-related accidents. Fourteen of those fatalities are pedestrians. A recent report also from the NHTSA showed that pedestrian accidents are on the rise.

The other fatalities occurred in school transportation vehicles. Parents entrust school officials and bus drivers with the safety of their children. When they are injured or lose their lives, an accident attorney will work hard to make certain the irresponsible party pays for their reckless actions and none of the medical costs come out of their pockets.
