The Los Angeles County coroner’s office announced Thursday the cause of death for Sage Stallone, the oldest son of Sylvester Stallone and his ex-wife Sasha Czach, was heart disease. An autopsy determined Sage, 36, suffered from atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, a condition in which the walls of the arteries harden. Toxicology tests found a very small amount of hydrocodone, also known as Vicodin, in his system.
Sage was found dead in his Studio City, California home on July 13. "When a parent loses a child there is no greater pain. Therefore I am imploring people to respect my talented son's memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha. This agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives. Sage was our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son's memory and soul left in peace,” Stallone said in a statement at the time.
Stallone currently stars alongside Jason Statham, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Expendables 2. His upcoming films include Bullet to the Head and The Tomb.
