Green Day was forced to cancel a weekend show in Bologna, Italy after an undisclosed illness sent lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong to the hospital. No details on Armstrong’s condition have been released. Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool apologized to fans in a Youtube video posted on Sunday.
“The doctors don’t think it’s a good idea for him to play today,” Dirnt said. “This sucks. We really, really were looking forward to playing Bologna as the highlight of our tour.”
“We’re beyond devastated,” Cool added. “Billie is extremely upset about it.”
Green Day will make up the concert next summer. The band’s next show is set for September 21 in Las Vegas. On September 24, the band will release “Uno!”, the first of three new albums. “Dos!” will be released on November 12 and “Tre!” is scheduled for release on January 14.
