Matt Damon, Matthew McConaughey, and Sylvester Stallone have eyes set on “Happyness.”

Robert De Niro returns to directing for the first time since 1993’s “A Bronx Tale” in the highly anticipated CIA tale “The Good Shepherd.” Leonardo DiCaprio was originally slated to star in the film but his exit led to De Niro turning to Matt Damon for the lead. The movie also stars Angelina Jolie and Alec Baldwin. Damon’s character, Edward Wilson, gives insight into the early years of the CIA and the struggles associated with being a part of a highly secretive organization.

“We are Marshall” kicks off today and hope to draw on the star power of Matthew McConaughey and Matthew Fox. The movie details the tragic circumstances surrounding the 1970 plane crash that killed 75 people, of which 49 were members of the Marshall football team, and the rebirth of the program.

In the final chapter of the Rocky saga, Sylvester Stallone returns to the ring for the last time in “Rocky Balboa.” The sixth episode doesn’t concentrate as much on boxing as it does in closure. Stallone has wanted to restore the name of Rocky after the franchise took a turn south beginning with Rocky III. Along with Stallone, Burt Young and Talia Shire returns as cast members who have been in Rocky’s corner since the beginning, 30 years ago.

Also opening this weekend is the comedy “Night at the Museum” with Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Steve Coogan, and Dick Van Dyke.

Children of Men, Dreamgirls, and Notes on a Scandal open on Christmas Day.

Each of these films will be trying to knock the Will Smith led “The Pursuit of Happyness” from the top spot at the box office. “Eragon” finished in the number two spot.
