Michael and Sharen Gravelle were found guilty of four felony counts of child endangerment, two misdemeanor counts of child endangerment, and five counts of misdemeanor child abuse on Friday.
Each of the felony charges carry a one to five year prison sentence and up to $10,000 fine.
The couple, who had taken in 11 special-needs children, argued that they were only trying to protect the children and stop them from wandering at night.
During the trial prosecutors called on some of the children who had been confined and they testified that the cages were urine-stained and had no mattresses or pillows. One child said he was forced to live in a bathroom for 81 days after wetting his bed.
