Zimbabwe government officials have denied recent reports that have suggested President Robert Mugabe is ill.
According to an article published in South Africa’s Times newspaper Mugabe, 85, had been rushed to a hospital in the United Arab Emirates to be treated for an undisclosed illness. Those reports were strongly denied by the Zimbabwe government with officials saying Mugabe had been on vacation and has returned in good health.
Mugabe is due to meet with South African President Jacob Zuma in Harare on Thursday and there have been no reports that the meeting has been cancelled. It will be Zuma’s first trip to Zimbabwe since winning the South African presidential election.
