AP Week 8 Top 25; Men’s NCAA College Basketball
UCLA and North Carolina remain 1-2 in AP Top 25; Florida and Duke move up as Ohio State and Pittsburgh Fall.
The UCLA Bruins held their #1 ranking in the AP Top 25 this week after knocking off Sam Houston State last Monday and Michigan on Saturday. They will be facing a pair of one-loss schools this week that could challenge their unbeaten record. On Thursday they have Washington State (11-1) and then they face off against #14 Washington (10-1) on Sunday.
North Carolina enjoyed a pair of blow-outs this past week to retain their #2 ranking. They pounded Florida Atlantic 105-52 last Monday and then beat Saint Louis 69-48 on Friday. The Tar Heels take on Rutgers on Thursday and then Dayton on Sunday.
Florida jumped up to #3 this week in the AP Top 25 after blasting then #3 Ohio State 86-60 on Saturday. The Gators got their week started with an 88-67 win over Stetson on Wednesday. UAB is the lone game this week for Florida. The two will play each other on Saturday.
Wisconsin held on to the #4 ranking this week after beating Pacific 83-47 on Saturday. The Badgers will face Gardner-Webb on Wednesday before taking on Georgia on Sunday.
Duke jumped one spot to land at #5 in the rankings this week. After surviving a 79-72 scare against Kent State last Monday, the Blue Devils beat then #24 Gonzaga 61-54 on Wednesday to cap their week. Duke’s only game this week will be against San Jose State on Sunday.
Ohio State fell to #6 after their blow-out loss to new #3 Florida. The Buckeyes started last week out with a 19-point win over Iowa State on Monday. Ohio State’s only game this week is against Coppin State on Saturday.
The Arizona Wildcats climbed two spots to the #7 position in this week’s AP Top 25. Arizona beat then #18 Memphis last Tuesday. They will play California on Thursday and then face Stanford on Saturday
Like Arizona, Alabama jumped two spots to claim the #8 position. The Crimson Tide beat N.C. State last Tuesday and then pounded Coppin State on Saturday. Alabama will take on Lipscomb on Friday.
