Spike Lee has signed on to the Paramount Pictures project that will detail the life of the self-proclaimed “hardest working man in show business,” James Brown.
Brown died of congestive heart failure on Christmas Day at the age of 73.
The “Godfather of Soul” had been working with producer Brian Grazer on the project for some time. Grazer was quoted as saying “Having known him well, and after spending lots of time with him and researching his life, it's somehow not surprising that he died on Christmas Day. He was the ultimate showman, all the way to the end.”
For Spike Lee the movie will offer him another opportunity to direct a film surrounding an icon, in 1992 he directed “Malcolm X.”
The James Brown movie is scheduled to begin production in 2008.
