The Mind of a Male Wedding Blogger

Wedding blog highlights new wedding music and other wedding-related products that are exceptional, but could use additional promotion.

Today’s wedding blog landscape is filled with many opinions that are largely supplied by an army of very passionate – but very female – writers. A new wedding blog, Wedding Planning and Accessories, hopes to change that.

Created by jewelry industry professional Rick Mulholland, Wedding Planning and Accessories features articles that are not typically included on the other wedding blogs found throughout the Internet. Its focus has been on lesser known or up-and-coming brands that deserve some time in the spotlight.

“It’s fun to present new ideas to what can sometimes be a very traditional industry,” comments Mulholland. “I like to share concepts that I feel are different or sometimes overlooked until much later in the wedding planning process, such as choosing the right song for the first wedding dance, and making a decision about what metal to choose for your wedding band. Probably the most unique item that I have written is about seeing a rock band – Tracii Guns’ League of Gentlemen – for a bachelor or bachelorette party instead of going to a strip club. After all, not everyone likes adult-oriented entertainment. So I figured it was okay to suggest that you can just rock out with some friends, and have a good time while enjoying some great music.”

Wedding Planning and Accessories has also been instrumental in showcasing some unknown artists for wedding song suggestions as well. Compositions by folk-pop artist Jacqui Naylor, UK sensation Chapman and singer/songwriter Bruce Sudano have all been reviewed, and there are more songs to be added to the blog in the near future.

“Including new music has been the most fun, as I am a frustrated music executive at heart,” says Mulholland. “I reached out to the music community with my wedding song concept through MelodicRock.com, and the response was almost overwhelming. There still are many that I have yet to mention, but I didn’t want to bore the audience with too much music all at one time. Not all submissions were appropriate to position as wedding songs, but there are quite a few winners. My most guilty pleasure is a ballad with the classic 80’s hard rock vibe. It screams ‘big hair’!”

In addition to presenting music, Wedding Planning and Accessories has highlighted Novell custom wedding bands, LiMoTraveler.com travel reservation website, Cures by Avancé beauty products, and Fantinel Prosecco (a sparkling Italian white wine). The blog will also be a forerunner in the upcoming initiative – “Jewelry Made in America.” Please visit Wedding Planning and Accessories for more unique wedding-related articles.
