Freddie Mac.,FRE-Slight changes in Mortgage rates

Rates on fixed-rate mortgages increased just slightly this week, remaining low and continuing to help sustain affordability in housing markets, Freddie Mac's chief economist said on Thursday.
The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5.14% for the week ending Aug. 27, up from last week's 5.12% average, according to Freddie Mac's weekly survey of conforming mortgage rates. The mortgage averaged 6.4% a year ago.
Fifteen-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 4.58% this week, up from last week's 4.56% average. The mortgage averaged 5.93% a year ago.
