Jaycee Lee Dugard, California Girl Kidnapped 18 Years Ago, Appears at Police Station

A California woman walked into an El Dorado police station on Thursday and identified herself as Jaycee Lee Dugard, the same girl who had been kidnapped outside her Lake Tahoe home 18 years earlier when she was 11-years-old.

While DNA tests are being carried out police are confident the woman is telling the truth as two people have been taken into custody and are being held in connection to the kidnapping.

According to Lt Les Lovell of the sheriff’s department at El Dorado “We're 99% sure it's her.” Jaycee Lee Dugard’s family had been notified and a meeting was being arranged.

Jaycee Lee Dugard had been walking home from school on June 10, 1991 when she was kidnapped by two people. Witnesses said a man and a woman in a grey vehicle had taken the young girl but police were never able establish any solid leads in the case.
