Big Brother 14 Week 9 Recap: HOH And Nominations

Sunday night’s episode started with a flashback to the double eviction. Dan won HOH and secretly targeted Ian, but Ian won the POV and Dan was forced to put someone else on the block alongside Joe. He got Jenn on board with a plan to backdoor Shane, but Danielle convinced him to change his mind at the last minute. Dan ended up making Danielle the replacement nominee to ensure Joe’s eviction.

After Joe’s eviction, Dan worked overtime to make sure Shane kept silent about his initial plan to backdoor Ian. He also had to do damage control with Jenn, who was angry that Dan backed out of the plan to backdoor Shane, and with Ian, who was mad that Dan did not nominate Jenn.

The HOH competition was a memory/skill challenge involving a ball and numbered slots. The players had to determine which day an event happened in the house and then drop their ball into the right numbered slot using a steering wheel at the end of a long board on hinges. They accumulate penalty points based on how many days off their ball is from the correct answer. The player with the least amount of penalty points at the end of the game wins HOH. It comes down to a tie between Ian and Shane. Shane’s ball is farther away from the correct number, so Ian wins HOH.

Ian is tempted by Pandora’s Box for the second time. It appears he will receive a video message from his parents, but he ends up being forced to watch a message from Big Brother 13 winner Rachel Reilly. Meanwhile, the other houseguests are surprised with video messages from their loved ones.

Dan’s decision to nominate Ian as a “pawn” nearly comes back to bite him because Ian thinks he should do the same with Dan this week in order to hide their final 2 deal. Dan is completely against the idea and manages to convince Ian that nominating Jenn and Shane is a better idea. At the nomination ceremony, Ian puts Jenn and Shane on the chopping block.
