WWE Announcer Jerry Lawler In Stable Condition After On Air Heart Attack

Popular wrestling announcer Jerry Lawler is being treated in a Montreal hospital after suffering a heart attack during a live broadcast of ‘Raw’ on Monday night. Lawler, 62, is said to be in critical but stable condition. He underwent surgery Tuesday to have stents put in blocked arteries. No other details were immediately available.

“WE will provide additional information as it becomes available. We continue to wish Jerry all the best for a full recovery,” World Wrestling Entertainment said Tuesday in a statement.

Lawler, a former wrestler who is perhaps best known for his feud with comedian Andy Kaufman, was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at the announcers table. Ringside medical personnel performed CPR until an ambulance arrived to take Lawler to the hospital. “This is not part of tonight's entertainment. This is a real-life situation,” announcer Michael Cole said.
