Georgia Police Officer Files Federal Suit Alleging Female on Male Sexual Harassment

Chattahoochee Hills, GA- A former police officer for the Chattahoochee Hills police department filed a federal lawsuit alleging his female boss sexually harassed him on a daily basis and was later fired in retaliation by the police chief.

James Melton claims that City Manager Carol Wolfe repeatedly asked him for an intimate relationship with her. Though sexual harassment allegations in police forces are not unusual it is rare that a woman is the perpetrator.

“It was daily the touching, grabbing and exposing,” Melton said. He alleges that Wolfe would often come in his office, pull up her shirt and bra, exposing herself. The egregious harassment took place when they were both on-duty and off-duty.

In one instance, Wolfe invited Melton to a local bar to discuss work-related matters when she began to grope him, begging him for sex.

According to the lawsuit, when Melton reported the harassment his complaints were ignored.

Melton says he was wrongfully fired by the Police Chief Damon Jones after he refused to provide the chief with an alibi in his own incident of sexual misconduct. Jones was accused of buying alcohol for a 19 year-old firefighter and later having sex with her. When Melton refused to lie for Jones and was fired out of retaliation.

In a statement Jones said Melton was a trouble maker who he tried to fire on numerous occasions, but Wolfe asked him not to.

Melton’s sexual harassment lawyer filed the suit against the Chattahoochee Hills Police Department, Carol Wolfe and Damon Jones.

In a statement, Melton’s attorney Jackie Patterson said, “We are asking that a jury rule he was discriminated against because he wouldn’t have sex with the city manager. And we are asking that they rule that he was retaliated upon by his former boss.”
