Palace Condems Magazine Publishing Kate Middleton Topless Pictures

Another royal picture scandal has hit headlines, but this time its not Prince Harry at the center of the drama -- its the Duchess of Cambridge. Topless pictures of Kate Middleton were published in the French magazine Closer on Friday, angering the palace as well as Middleton and Prince William.

The pictures show Kate sunbathing topless with Prince William during their vacation at a private French chateau. In a statement released Friday, the palace calls the taking and publishing of the photos a "grotesque and totally unjustifiable" invasion of the couple's privacy.

"Their Royal Highnesses have been hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner.  The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to The Duke and Duchess for being so," a St. James Palace spokesperson says. "Their Royal Highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them. Officials acting on behalf of their Royal Highnesses are consulting with lawyers to consider what options may be available to the Duke and Duchess."

Prince William and Middleton are currently in Malasia for Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee Tour.

Last month, nude pictures of Prince Harry surfaced online. The photos were taken in a Las Vegas hotel suite during a game of strip pool. One of the pictures shows Harry, 27, completely naked and cupping his genitals with his hands while a naked woman stands close behind him. In another picture, Harry has his bare bottom turned towards the camera as he hugs a naked woman from behind.
