Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi Pursuing Legal Action Against Media Outlets Across Europe

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is fighting back against several media outlets across Europe, opting to pursue legal action after claiming publications in Spain, France, Britain and Italy had published libelous stories about his private life.

Several of the stories have alleged Berlusconi has had relationships with teenage models and escorts, both allegations the prime minster has denied. While Berlusconi has been a popular target in the European media he now appears determined to turn the tables.

According to his lawyer, Niccolo Ghedini, Berlusconi has been subjected to slanderous accusations that have damaged his reputation. Ghedini also stated that while Berlusconi accepts that he is a politician and may attract criticism the stories being printed are direct attacks against him.
