Multi-talented Filmmaker Shannon Lanier, CEO of DARK RONIN Films, Guests on Eye on Entertainment

“CHINA WHITE”, New Suspense Thriller from DARK RONIN Films, Is Scheduled for November 2012 Production in New Jersey

Shannon C. Lanier, Founder and Executive Producer of DARK RONIN Films, revealed that the company’s new suspense thriller, “China White,” will begin production in November 2012, with an anticipated release date of early 2013.  Lanier discussed “China White,” his philosophy of film making, his other film successes and his future plans for a segment of “Eye on Entertainment” hosted by Dawna Lee Heising.  Lanier told Heising that prize-winning director Todd E. Braley is not only set to direct “China White,” which begins filming in New Jersey in November, 2012, but that Braley also wrote the story  and co-wrote the screenplay with Cassandra Bryson.

About DARK RONIN’s current project “November Lies,” which is wrapping production this fall, Lanier said that he characterizes the film  as a “personal story, but a very relatable one.”  He noted that the story is one that needed to be told, saying he hoped that the audience would come away from the film with a “new approach to life and a better understandings of themselves.”  Lanier proudly mentioned that “November Lies,” though not being released until 2013, has already garnered much critical praise not only in the United States and Canada, but overseas as well. Discussing the film, he said that while he had read numerous scripts, he wanted to do a work of his own –  believing that if you write about something you know, you can create something truly “real, organic, and powerful.”  So, he said, he sat down and took events from his own life, combined them with countless hours of research and created “November Lies,” the first feature film produced under the DARK RONIN Films label.

Lanier additionally revealed details about other upcoming DARK RONIN production, “The Battle of Ripcord.” The film, he said, is set in Vietnam and centers on an actual battle that has all but been forgotten.  In fact, he notes that he is using actual soldiers involved in the battle as advisors on the film.  Discussing his philosophy of film making, Lanier noted that early on he realized that the key to making a successful mark in the film industry is not to limit himself to just one side of the camera and not just to big budget productions. Commensurately,  he said he had been attached to over 35 projects in the past two years alone -- from big budget films to low budget works and independent productions.  Lanier mentioned that  his resume also includes theater and film acting, producing, directing, a black belt in Karate and a venture into the music industry.  “Becoming versatile and learning every aspect of filmmaking,” he noted,  “has opened up more possibilities than he could have imagined.”
