The Execution of Saddam Hussein can be Seen on TransWorldNews Sites

The Saddam Hussein Execution by hanging can be seen on TransWorldNews sites TWNpeople, TWNglobal, and the Videos section of Finditt.

Saddam Hussein was hung late Friday night after being sentenced to death for his involvement in the deaths of 148 Shiites in 1982. Hussein’s order to kill the Shiites in the northern Iraqi city of Dujail was in retaliation for an assassination attempt on his life.

The former Iraqi leader went into hiding after the U.S. led invasion of Iraq but he was found in 2003 by American troops. He was tried in an Iraqi court and found guilty of crimes against humanity and sentenced to hang by the Iraqi courts. His final appeal was denied earlier this month.

Both of Hussein’s sons were killed by U.S. forces in an air strike shortly after President George Bush committed troops to Iraq after 9/11. The invasion was largely based and justified on the belief that Hussein had been hiding weapons of mass destruction and had ties to terrorist organizations like al-Qaeda, the fundamentalist group that attacked the World Trade Center in 2001.
