Rose Bowl: #8 USC Trojans Pound the #3 Michigan Wolverines in Second Half, Win 32-18.

Perhaps the Michigan Wolverines (11-2) were still upset over not playing in the BCS Championship game or their hearts weren’t in a Big Ten-Pac Ten showdown. Whatever it was, it was clear they weren’t ready to play the USC Trojans (11-2) on Monday.

After a first half that lacked offensive excitement and produced a field-goal from each team the second half proved to be a different story.

John David Booty threw four touchdowns in the second half for USC and the Trojans trounced the Wolverines 32-18.

Chris McFoy gave the Trojans the lead in the second half when he scored on a 2-yard pass from Booty. Dwayne Jarrett then boosted the USC advantage to 16-3 after scoring on a 22-yard touchdown pass.

USC capped the third quarter with a 26-yard field goal from Mario Danelo and the Trojans had the game in hand.

Michigan started to show signs of life in the fourth quarter and they were able to cut their deficit to 19-11 after Chad Henne hit Adrain Arrington on an 11-yard touchdown strike.

The problem was, the Wolverines defense couldn’t stop the arm of Booty and the legs of Jarrett. The pair hooked up on USC’s next possession for a 62-yard touchdown and the Trojans were back on top 25-11.

Booty then hit Steve Smith on a 7-yard touchdown pass and USC boosted the lead to 32-11.

Michigan found the end zone one more time when Henne found Steve Breaston on a 41-yard touchdown but it was too little to late for the Wolverines.

John David Booty finished with 391-yards passing and four touchdowns, Dwayne Jarrett had 11 receptions for 205-yards and a pair of scores. The Trojans defense allowed a total of 12-yards rushing in the game.
