Despite turning the ball over three times, rushing for negative yardage, and surrendering 368 yards of total offense compared to 201 yards of their own, the Wisconsin Badgers (12-1) beat the Arkansas Razorbacks (10-4) 17-14 in the Capital One Bowl.
Wisconsin was able to get on the board in the first quarter with a Capital One Bowl record 52-yard field goal from Taylor Mehlhaff. Their 3-0 lead was short lived though as Arkansas responded with a 76-yard touchdown run from Felix Jones and the Razorbacks led 7-3.
Just before the first quarter ended Wisconsin grabbed the lead back when quarterback John Stocco found Paul Hubbard on a 22-yard touchdown pass.
With the Badgers in front 10-7 Stocco drove his team 62-yards for a touchdown midway through the second quarter. The drive was capped on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Stocco to Travis Beckum.
The Razorbacks offense could never get on track, and the second half proved no different. Felix Jones provided the only scoring for either team after halftime when he scampered 12-yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
With the victory, Wisconsin finished their season with their best record in school history. The Badgers only loss came at the hands of Big Ten rival Michigan.
Stocco finished the game with 206-yards passing and two touchdowns in the Badgers win. Offensively, the game belonged to the Razorbacks Felix Jones who rushed for 150-yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Arkansas sacked Stocco six times, a large reason for the Badgers -5 total yards rushing.
