Chad Johnson’s Marriage Is Officially Over

Chad Johnson’s brief marriage to Evelyn Lozada is officially over. People magazine confirms the pair’s divorce was finalized Wednesday morning in Florida.

"Evelyn and Mr. Johnson were divorced this morning in an uncontested final hearing. My client is a single woman and looks forward to her future,” Michael Gilden, Lozada’s lawyer, tells the magazine.

Johnson has not commented. Lozada filed for divorce in August after Johnson’s domestic violence arrest.

The former Miami Dolphins star was arrested for domestic battery at his Miami area home on August 11 after allegedly head butting Lozada during a heated argument about a receipt for condoms Lozada discovered in their car. Lozada sustained 3-inch cut on her forehead and was treated at a local hospital.

"It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well,” Lozada said in a statement at the time.

Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, issued a public apology on his website. "I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred," he wrote. "I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death."

Johnson and Lozada wed on July 4. The wide receiver proposed in November 2010 and let Lozada, who previously starred on VH1’s Basketball Wives, pick out a 10 carat diamond ring from Jason of Beverly Hills.
