Dan Gheesling won Big Brother 10, but he couldn’t pull out a win over Ian Terry when he returned for season 14. Speaking to reporters after the season finale, Gheesling’s says his ruthless game play is what ultimately lost him the $500,000 prize.
“I sent a lot of people to the jury angry and I was up against a very likeable kid. He's 21 years old and has a lot of student debt, which he made very well known, and I'm nearly 30 and have already won once. It was an easy vote, in that regard,” Gheesling explains.
“They saw Ian as a sympathetic vote and me as some cunning backstabber. I felt a lot of them were blinded by their emotions, but that falls on my shoulders for not being able to convince them. I put them there and I had 90 seconds to convince them, and I couldn't get it done,” he says.
Gheesling also makes it clear that his Big Brother persona is not who he is outside the game. "I play a ruthless game, that's just me in the house. But as soon as I step out of the house, I'll talk to anyone and help anyone,” adds the Catholic high school teacher.
