The Louisville Cardinals (12-1) overcame a fourth quarter deficit to beat the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (11-3) 24-13.
The Cardinals fell behind in the second quarter when Sam Swank kicked a 44-yard field goal for Wake. The Deacons had to settle for the three points despite starting their drive on the Louisville 28-yard line.
Art Carmody evened the score for the Cardinals with a 41-yard field goal mid-way through the second quarter. Louisville then took the lead on a trick play when quarterback Brian Brohm pitched to Patrick Carter who then threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Allen.
Wake Forest was able to tie the score in the third quarter when quarterback Riley Skinner hit Nate Morton on a 30-yard touchdown pass. The Deacons then took the lead on a 36-yard field goal from Swank.
Louisville responded to Wake’s new lead with an 81-yard touchdown drive that was capped by a 1-yard touchdown run by Anthony Allen and the Cardinals were back on top 17-13.
Brohm then led the Cardinals on a 10 play 71-yard drive that ended in an 18-yard touchdown run by Brock Bolen and Louisville was up 24-13.
Brain Brohm passed for 311 yards on 24 of 34 passing and wide-receiver Harry Douglas had 10 receptions for 165 yards for the Cardinals.
Wake was led by Riley Skinner who passed for 271-yards and a touchdown.
