The Tennessee Titans proved they knew what they were doing when they selected Vince Young in last April’s draft. The rookie quarterback from the University of Texas was the third overall pick in the draft but became the number one choice of sports writers and broadcasters when voting for the NFL’s top rookie.
Young, who led the Titans to an 8-8 record, joined Ben Roethlisberger as the only two quarterbacks to ever win the rookie honor. Vince took over the starting quarterback job in Week 4 and matured throughout the season. Tennessee started the season 0-5 but Young almost landed them in the playoffs.
Of the 50 votes for Offensive Rookie of the Year, Young was named on 23 ballots. That far surpassed his closest competition. Both Marques Colston of New Orleans and Maurice Jones-Drew of Jacksonville tallied 9 votes.
