Chris Brown appeared in court Monday for a hearing on whether his probation in the 2009 beating of his then-girlfriend Rihanna will be affected by a failed drug test and “somewhat cryptic” community service records. Brown failed the drug test in June in Richmond, Virginia where he has completed 1,402 hours of community service. Authorities also reported that Brown may not have been granted permission for a previous trip to Paris.
Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg ordered farther review of Brown’s community service and travel records in order to determine if the singer followed the terms of his probation. Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, said he is confident the records will prove Brown completed all requirements of the court.
As for the failed drug test, Schnegg said Brown holds a marijuana prescription from California. She also noted that Brown was never ordered to not use drugs. Schnegg urged Brown to “be mindful of obeying all rules of the courts.” "A lot of people look up to you – a lot of kids. What you do and what you say impacts other people,” she added.
A hearing to decide whether Brown violated his probation was scheduled for November 1.
