As authorities continue to investigate the bizarre death of Johnny Lewis and the murder of his elderly landlord, new details about the actor’s last months have emerged. According to reports, Lewis was arrested multiple times this year for assault and attempted burglary. He spent roughly two months in jail and was ordered to complete a month long treatment program for drug addiction and mental illness.
In probation reports about Lewis, authorities stated that the 28-year-old suffered from “some form of chemical dependency, mental health issue and a lack of permanent housing" and would therefore “continue to be a threat to any community he may reside." Officers also warned of “out of control” behavior.
After being released from an L.A. jail on September 21, Lewis apparently rented a room at the Los Feliz home of 81-year-old Catherine Davis. Davis and her cat were found dead inside the house Wednesday morning and Lewis was found dead on the driveway. Authorities believe Lewis beat Davis to death before going outside and confronting at least two male neighbors who heard her screams. Witnesses saw him attack the men with a piece of wood. Lewis then climbed to the roof and fell or jumped to his death.
Lewis is perhaps best known for playing prospect Half Sack on “Son’s of Anarchy” for two seasons. His other notable TV credits include recurring roles on “The O.C.” and “American Dream." Lewis also had minor roles in several films like “Aliens vs. Predator – Requiem,” “One Missed Call” and “The Runaways.” He once dated pop star Katy Perry.
