LaDainian Tomlinson put together one of the most dominant seasons in NFL history and for his work he was rewarded with the league’s MVP Trophy.
Tomlinson led his San Diego Chargers to an NFL best 14-2 regular season record and into the playoffs this year. In the process of running for 1,815 yards Tomlinson broke the NFL record for rushing touchdowns (28) and overall touchdowns in a season (31). The NFL’s MVP also had 508 yards receiving and even threw two touchdowns in his remarkable season.
In 10 games this season Tomlinson rushed for over 100 yards. LT had two or more touchdowns in a game ten times and he scored four touchdowns in a game twice.
With a season so dominant, the Chargers running back collected 44 of the 50 votes for the award. Tomlinson became the first San Diego Chargers player to win the award.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees finished second with four votes while Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning collected two votes.
