After finishing the season with an NFL worst 2-14 record the Oakland Raiders have fired their head coach Art Shell.
Shell’s second attempt at leading the silver and black back to glory failed miserably. From game one, the Raiders struggled to even compete against their opponents en route to their worst team record since their 1-13 season in 1962.
Raiders owner Al Davis met with Shell on Thursday to discuss the teams plans. Shortly after the meeting the team issued a statement declaring Shell would be relieved of his head coaching job.
In his first go-round as head coach Shell managed to guide the Raiders to a 56-41 record from 1988-94. He took the Raiders to the playoffs on three separate occasions in that period.
