St. Maarten Teen Arrested In Murder Of Michael And Thelma King

St. Maarten authorities say a second man has been arrested in connection with the murder of South Carolina couple Michael and Thelma King. The 17-year-old suspect, who has been identified by his initials J.C.M., was taken into custody around 4 p.m. Monday during a search of the Cole Bay area. It is unclear what led authorities to the teen. The St. Maarten Public Prosecutor’s office said additional arrests "cannot be excluded."

Last week, a judge ruled that the first suspect, 28-year-old Jamaican security guard Meyshane Johnson, can be held in jail for at least 10 days while prosecutors gather additional evidence. Johnson was arrested on September 23. Neither Johnson nor J.C.M. has been charged with murder.

The Kings were found stabbed to death inside their Ocean Club Resort condo on Friday, September 21. Michael King, 53, was found draped over a chair while Thelma, 57, was found tied to another chair. The motive for the slayings remains unclear.
