Lucid Way, an e-learning training development company, recently unveiled their new mobile deployment strategy that will provide e-learning on multiple devices such as smart phones and tablets.
Current e-learning training applications have not taken full advantage of mobile platforms. This is due, in part, to the special plugins, apps, or heavy re-development needed to deliver highly engaging content to mobile devices. These factors add additional cost and stress on corporate IT and training departments.
"Companies are changing the way they think about delivering e-learning. There is a growing expectation from customers and employees that training should be available on any device" says Lucid Way CEO, Tim Hunter. Lucid Way's mobile platform strategy is based on responsive design in which the e-learning training adapts to various screen sizes rather than developing the training to the device specifications. What this means is that training can be standardized, and delivered to any device with a browser.
Companies with global workforces require training for their employees and customers who may be in an area where desktops and laptops are not practical. Training via mobile technology can extend their reach and provide employees with quick access to the just-in-time training needed in a rapidly evolving work environment. Mobile devices offer the means to provide convenient access to training videos, processes, or procedures that can be delivered to all employees quickly and efficiently (think about construction workers, wind turbine technicians, manufacturing floor workers, or project managers). In addition, 4G and wireless internet are becoming commonplace even in remote areas.
This shift in training expectations will drive how content is delivered and e-learning companies and corporate training departments should consider preparing their training for mobile platforms.
