Chris Brown confirms his 1-year romance with aspiring model Karrueche Tran has ended. The rapper blamed his busy schedule and relationship with former girlfriend Rihanna for the split.
“I have decided to be single to focus on my career. I love Karrueche very much but I don't want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna. I'd rather be single allowing us to both be happy in our lives,” Brown, 23, tells Us Weekly magazine.
News of the split comes after Brown and Rihanna were spotted getting cozy multiple times in NYC. On Monday, the pair was spotted kissing at Griffin nightclub. They partied at 1Oak the following night, and on Wednesday they attended Jay-Z’s concert at the Barclay’s Center.
An insider says Brown hopes to rekindle his romance with Rihanna. “Chris really wants to be free to pursue Rihanna now that she wants him back. They will be together, trust me. I always told you he'd go back to Rihanna in a heartbeat when she was ready,” the source claims.
Rihanna ended their 2 year relationship in 2009 after Brown was arrested for beating her during a heated argument. Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault and was sentenced to 5 years of probation, 6 months of community service and 1 year of domestic violence counseling.
