New Auto Body Repair Technologies Make Your Repairs Better and Faster

When the automotive industry continually creates more revolutionary technology, the auto body repair industry is continually forced to keep pace, creating more revolutionary technology as well.

Also, as auto body repair technology further revolutionizes, service technicians are forced to upgrade their skills. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics states, "To keep up with these technological advances, repairers must continue to gain new skills by reading technical manuals and furthering their education with classes and seminars."

Many new auto body repair technologies are changing car collision repair as we currently know it.

The Matrix Wand is a handheld portable Photogrammetry System that allows service technicians to acquire 3D images of a vehicle from any point and download them to a computer. They can then use the Repair Analysis Software to acquire measurements needed for proper car collision repair. The images and measurements can be saved to the computer, which makes sharing information with customers and insurance companies much easier. The data can then be used to repair the vehicle, and the wand and software can be used again to verify accuracy of final repairs.

Sullair Corporation has recently introduced the new E900H Electric Portable Air Compressor, the first 900 acfm electric portable air compressor in both the 460/60 and domestic markets. The E900H delivers a 67% lower operating cost than similar diesel-driven compressors and 900 acfm at 150 psig, while staying true to the legendary design of Sullair portable compressors.

The Prevost New Generation PS1 coupler provides quick release coupling in compliance with ISO 4414 and ISO 6150 standards. Disconnecting unsecured couplers can create a huge risk, which is eliminated with the PS1 coupler through a double locking device. It combines high performance standards with ease of use. Employers can feel better about the risk their service technicians are facing by using the PS1 coupler.

WIZARDS Products, well-known for their top-selling product MIST-N-SHINE, has recently added to their line of professional detailing and finishing products with MYSTIC SPRAY WAX. This product combines their original synthetic formula with nanotechnology to make it more compatible with modern day clear coats. It is easy to use and performs well on all paint types. MYSTIC SPRAY WAX can be used as a detailer or dry wash to give any vehicle a showroom look.

PMCLogic is a new software program that allows collision repair specialists to track and invoice all materials used throughout the repair process. It utilizes the most current industry pricing to calculate and estimate repair costs. Pricing accuracy is further increased because paint pricing is specific to color.

Jeff Green, Director of Sales for Martin Senour, states, “The PMCLogic paint material calculator program works for both insurers and body shop professionals. This allows them to come to a logical agreement on fair and reasonable reimbursement for almost all types of paint and materials on just about any vehicle repair.”

“This is one of the leading estimating programs that really work for collision repairers; it accurately documents, itemizes and invoices for all paint and materials used in the repair process based on the most current industry prices. Pure and simple, PMCLogic takes the guesswork out of paint and material costing," says Rick Palmer, President of ComputerLogic.

The auto body repair industry is doing its best to keep up with the ever-changing automotive industry with these new auto body repair technologies and many others.
