With 1:19 remaining in the fourth quarter and the game on the line, the Dallas Cowboys fell apart. Having driven down to the Seattle Seahawks 2-yard line and facing a fourth and one the Cowboys lined up to kick the go-ahead field goal. A fumbled snap led to Seattle regaining possession and winning the game 21-20.
Seattle trailed 20-13 in the fourth quarter but cut their deficit to 20-15 on a safety and then took a 21-20 lead when Matt Hasselbeck hit Jerramy Stevens on a 37 yard touchdown pass with 4:31 remaining in the game.
Hasselbeck had connected with Stevens on a 15 yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to give the Seahawks a 13-10 lead. Dallas responded immediately on the ensuing kickoff. Miles Austin broke through the Dallas special teams and scampered 92 yards for a touchdown and the Cowboys were back on top 17-13.
Dallas pushed their lead to 20-13 on a 29-yard field goal from Martin Gramatica early in the fourth quarter.
Matt Hasselbeck finished with 240 yards passing and two touchdowns and Shaun Alexander rushed for 69 yards.
Tony Romo threw for 189 yards and a touchdown for the Cowboys yet it was the fumbled snap on the field-goal attempt that he will have an entire offseason to think about.
