Close-Up Talk Radio Spotlights Dr. Paulette Pitt of Applied Psychology Group

Sherman, TX – Unfortunately in modern society, not everyone is dealt a fair hand. There are those, especially in the child and adolescent stage that have cognitive impairments or horrendous abuses thrust upon them. What are the lasting effects? Where does one go when treatment facilities and finances are scarce?

With specialization in adolescent and child psychology, Dr. Paulette Pitt helped establish the Applied Psychology Group of Texoma. APG has provided superior mental health assessment and treatment services since 2009. However, knowing the severity of the situation in the North Texas and Southeastern Oklahoma areas, Dr. Pitt committed herself to helping everyone in need as she established and is President of the Board for the not-for-profit group, behavioral concepts, incorporated, whose mission is to serve individuals having significant behavioral disorders. Additionally, she serves on the board for the Grayson County Child Advocacy Center, whose mission is to serve child victims of abuse.

“We’re in a very rural area. There’s not many intervention centers or treatment providers for that matter. Grayson County is a high needs area for medical and mental health services and ranks the 14th highest in Texas for child abuse cases. It’s a problem,” says Pitt. “It’s one thing to find the problem. Now, what are we going to do about it?”

Dr. Pitt’s dedication is only partially displayed through her extensive studies, degrees, certifications, and the tremendous amount of experience she’s accumulated. After completing her Master’s in counseling from the University of North Texas in 2001, Dr. Pitt began working as a domestic abuse counselor. She also worked in a pre-school that integrated typical functioning children with those having autism, furthering her experience in child psychology. This was all while studying for her doctoral degree in psychology from Texas Woman’s University, which she obtained in 2008.

The remaining dedication can be found in how Dr. Pitt and her staff at Applied Psychology Group of Texoma serve the community. With Behavioral Concepts, Incorporated, partnered with Dr. Jill Schurr of Austin College, Dr. Pitt aims to teach others how to identify and treat cases of those having significant behavioral problems, while serving those who deserve treatment regardless of financial status.

Dr. Pitt will be featured on Close-Up Talk Radio in a two-part interview with Doug Llewelyn at www.blogtalkradio.com/closeuptalkradio on Monday October 10th and Monday October 17th. Both shows will air at 1230pm on their respective dates. Listeners can dial-in at 347-996-3389.
