Tori Spelling Reveals Near Fatal Pregnancy Complications

Now that Tori Spelling is on the mend, the actress is ready to reveal the full extent of the complications she suffered during her pregnancy with youngest son Finn, 1 month. In the new issue of Us Weekly magazine, the Craft Wars host reveals she could have died or lost Finn from excessive bleeding caused by placenta previa, a condition in which the placenta covers the opening of the cervix.

“It was surreal. I just remember thinking, ‘I can’t leave three children behind,’” says Spelling, 39.

The condition was likely a result of Spelling’s three previous C-sections with Liam, 5, Stella, 4, and Hattie, 1, and Finn’s conception just one month after Hattie’s birth. The actress says she had 9 episodes of intense bleeding and was put on bed rest for 4 months. Spelling and husband Dean McDermott welcomed Finn on August 29.

“The first bleed happened at eight weeks,” Spelling reveals. “I was getting a massage at home and I felt wetness. I looked down and saw blood. My heart dropped. I started screaming for Dean and told him, ‘I just had a miscarriage.’ But the next day I went to the hospital and the doctor said everything was fine.”

“When I first heard his cry and Dean looked over at me and said, ‘We have our Finn!’ I was overjoyed. My whole pregnancy I would cradle my stomach and just keep saying to my baby, ‘I can’t wait to hold you.’ When they put him in my arms I was like, ‘We Made it. We did it.’ Now we have an insane bond. We’ve been through hell and back,” she adds.

Three weeks after welcoming Finn, Spelling underwent emergency surgery for a ruptured surgical scar from her C-section. She is now recovering at home.
