Nick Lachey and wife Vanessa Minnillo did not copy reality star Kristin Cavallari when they named their son Camden John. In fact, Nick says they picked out the name months before Cavallari announced the birth of her son Camden Jack.
“We fell in love with it and decided on it five or six months ago,” Lachey told People magazine on Tuesday.
The former 98 Degrees singer said they originally planned to name their son Colin. “We thought that Colin would be the name. And John is my dad’s name,” Lachey revealed. “But as we got further into it, I learned that Vanessa wasn’t a big fan of the name Colin, so we started looking for another ‘C’ name.”
They got the name Camden from L.A.’s Camden Drive – the road where Minnillo’s obstetrician’s office is located. “We didn’t really know anyone else named Camden. It was such a neat name,” he told People.
As for how parenthood is going, Lachey said things couldn’t be better. “You get all that advice, but we’ve been blown away and happy about the fact that he’s just been a good baby. He’s got a great temperament. Every day is fun. It’s a new adventure and we’re loving every second of it,” added Lachey.
