AP Top 25 Week 10; Men’s NCAA College Basketball
Major Shake-up in Top 10 reshapes AP Top 25, North Carolina claims the top spot in AP Poll.
The North Carolina Tar Heels just continue to win and allow the rankings to take care of themselves. On Wednesday the Tar Heels pounded Pennsylvania by 38 and then beat ACC opponent FSU by 26 on Sunday. North Carolina looks to keep their new #1 ranking as they face Virginia on Wednesday before taking on Virginia Tech on Saturday.
The Florida Gators jumped up to the #2 spot in the AP Top 25 after taking care of business this past week. They beat Liberty by 31 points on Tuesday and then beat Georgia 67-51 on Saturday.
Wisconsin got the #3 nod from the AP this week. The Badgers handle the Minnesota Gophers on Saturday, winning by 23 points. While the Badgers moved up one spot they will have a big test this week when they face #5 Ohio State on Tuesday. They will face Northwestern on Saturday.
Dropping to #4 in the AP Top 25 is UCLA. The Bruins dropped a 68-66 game to then #16 Oregon on Saturday knocking them from the ranks of the undefeated. Earlier in the week UCLA had beaten Oregon State by 15 points. UCLA will take on rival USC on Saturday.
Ohio State was bumped up one spot to #5 this week. The Buckeyes beat Indiana on Tuesday 74-67 and then beat up Illinois 62-44 on Saturday. Ohio State will have their hands full this week wit #3 Wisconsin on Tuesday and then #16 Tennessee on Saturday.
The Kansas Jayhawks played one game and moved up three spots to the #6 ranking in the AP this week. Sunday’s victory over South Carolina moved the Jayhawks up the polls. Kansas will take on the team that claimed the #9 spot, Oklahoma State, on Wednesday. On Saturday Kansas will meet up with Iowa State.
Pittsburgh moved up three spots in the AP Top 25 to settle in at #7 this week after beating Syracuse on Thursday and then South Florida on Sunday. The Panthers will face DePaul on Wednesday before taking on Georgetown on Saturday.
Texas A&M moved up to #8 in the AP Top 25 after Tuesday’s 71-51 pounding of Winthrop and Saturday’s four-point victory over Kansas State. The Aggies will face Baylor on Tuesday and then take on Colorado on Saturday.
